When we began writing poetry in this course I thought I was going to hate it. I used to think poetry is stupid and its just a bunch of words that rhyme thrown together to create something. I soon discovered that I may not like reading poetry, but I do enjoy writing it. Writing is much different than reading poetry. When writing, you can use your imagination and write down whatever comes to your mind. Its a unique way of expressing whats on your mind and seeing where the subconscious part of your mind takes you. Although some poems I enjoyed writing more than others. My favourite poems I wrote include Mother to Daughter because I pictured the story in my head and I wrote it down so effortlessly and I like the meaning behind it. I also like the elegy I wrote for my great grandmother (I'll always remember you). I enjoyed writing this because I thought of the few memories I shared with her and I hope I will see her again. (The last three poems are poems I did not write in Writers Craft and below is a slide show of poems I admire.) This experience has been different than writing poems in English because there were less boundaries. I hate to say it but I actually didn't mind this unit on Poetry.
